Mike Eaton 3/3 with 3 RBI's and Al Smith 3/3. Flatwoods was led by Mike Walsh and Scott Sanford with 3 hits each and Bo Passen and Pete Carrier each with a HR.

   Plantation knocked off Flatwoods at Pear Park securing first place for Legacy today. Scott Vanblarcom 3/5, 1 double,1 triple, 2 RBI's. Ken Geissler 3/4 1 double and 2 RBI's.Jerry Palazzolo 3/4 with 4 RBI's. Jim Monaco 3/4 2 RBI's. Bill Richman 3/4 2 RBI's and Carlos Nunez 2/4 with 3 RBI's all pacing Plantation. Plantation built an early lead and was able to stave of a late rally by Legacy to preserve a 21-17 win. Don Wrona kept Legacy in the game early with 2 Hr's and 6 rbi's, Frank Stangel had 3 hits and Rick Aper had 3 doubles, Paul Maddox had 2 hits, Don Wolschleger had a Hr and 4 rbi's and Ken Mahoney hit a Hr. Don Hughes, Scott Vanblarcom, Rusty Fish and Bill Magley had 4 hits each. Bill Magley also played some stellar defense at 1B along with his 4 hits, 5 rbi's and 2 doubles. Jerry Palazzollo, Ralph Correa, Bill Richman and Carlos "the Assassin" Nunez had 3 hits each. Scott had the only Hr and Bill Richman had a triple.

Plantation put up 5 spots in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th to best a strong Summerglen team. Leading the Plantation hitters was Scott Vanblarcom with a 5-5 day. Bill Magley, Ken Geissler and Mike Genaw were all 4-4. Home runs were struck by Ken Geissler, Rusty Fish and Ralph Correa.Miguel Luzunaris had 4 hits for Summerglen and Miguel Berdicia added 3 hits and a Hr.

Pear Park hosted the battle for first place today. Legacy jumped out to a 9-0 lead after 3 1/2 innings. Flatwoods stormed back to lead 11-9 after 6 innings, but Legacy scored 8 in the last 2 innings for the 16-14 win. Curt Grimes,Rick Aper and Jim Russell had 3 hits each and Frank Stangel with 2. Ken Mahoney,Don Wrona and Aper each hit a HR. Pete Carrier and Levi Walsh led Flatwoods with 4 hits, plus Kevin Hopkins and Chuck Sellers chipped in with 3 each.

Legacy kicked off the scoring with 5 runs in each of the first 2 innings to take a 10-3 lead, but then went cold with 2 straight scoreless innings. Plantation took advantage of the lull with 2 6 runinnings to take a 15-10 lead and tacked on two more runs to take a 7-run lead. Legacy fought back with 4 runs in the 5th and 6th inning to go back in front 18-17. 3 more in the top of the 7th gavePlantation back the lead 20-18 and it was enough, even though Legacy loaded the bases with 1 out in the 7th (scored 1 run) and had the tying run on 2nd with no outs in the 8th. Exciting game, kudos toPlantation for hanging on for the 20-19 victory.

Flatwoods was able to score 15 runs in last 4 innings to complete a 17-14 come from behind victory. Pat DiLeo led Flatwoods with 4 hits, Bo Passen, Scott Sanford, John Richman and Mark Beebe each had 3 hits. Passen hit 2 Hr out of Pear Park,Sanford banged one out too and Levi Wright legged out  an inside the park dinger. Two high powered offenses squared off in this game between 2 teams separated by only a game and a half in the standings. Legacy pressed the lead early with a 5 run first, but stonecrest replied with 6 runsto take an 8-5 lead. They stretched the lead with timely hitting to 14-7 after 3 1/2 innings, but Legacy responded in their half with 7 to tie the score. After that, Legacy took control with 11 runs in thenext 3 innings and survived a strong 8th inning comeback to gain the25-20 victory. Both teams pounded out 27 hits, but Legacy's 10-4 home

run advantage proved to be the difference.

Hitting Leaders for Stonecrest: Jeff Jackson 5-5 (2 HRs & 5 RBIs), Darwin Bullock 4-5 (2 2Bs) and 3 hits each for Anthony Nicometo, Mike Kemp (2 HRs and 5 RBIs) and Jose Benitez (2B).

Scott Sanford and Pablo Perez paced Flatwoods with 3 hits each and a HR each out of spacious Pear Park. Pete Carrier, Mark Beebe and Gary Huguenot chipped in with 3 hits each.Turnpike Mikes was led by Rich Wiles 4/5 and 2 RBI Jay Winn 4/5,Gilberto Ortega 3/4 and Rich Bitting 3/4.

Stonecrest's offense started the game with a bang, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first and 2 more in each of the next 2 innings. Legacy matched their scoring and pulled to a 2-run lead with 5 runs in thebottom of the 3rd. After that, Stonecrest's bats went cold scoring only 3 runs in the last 5 innings and Legacy pulled away with 12 runs in the next 3 innings to seal the 23-12 victory.

Stonecrest hitting leaders: Mike Kemp (HR), Jeff Jackson (2 HR's & 5 RBI's, Keith Kelley (2B) and Al Smith had 3 hits each. Keith Erskine also had a HR.

Todayís seesaw game went back and forth until Pete Newman lining a single to score the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Pete was motivated by the prospect of a steak dinner by his wife Sue if he were to  come through in his at bat.

Flatwoods was led by Scott Sanford (4 hits,HR), Kevin Hopkins,Pete Carrier,Mike Walsh,Anthony Speranza and John Richman all had 3 hits. Bo Passen and Pablo Perez also hit homers for Flatwoods. Stonecrest was led by Pete Newman (4/5,4 RBIís),Darwin Bullock 4/5,Mark Duncan 3/3,Al Smith 3/4 and Mike Kemp 3/4(3b and 4 RBIís).

The morning started cool, but the bats were hot for the first 3 innings as Legacy hit 3 home runs and played to a 10-9 lead. Legacy's defense took over as they allowed only 2 runs total in the next 4innings. Legacy pulled away with 7 runs in their last 2 innings. But Plantation didn't give up. After the 8th inning started with a double play, they rallied for 5 runs and had the tying run at the plate with2 outs before the game ended with a long fly to the outfield. The final score was 19-16 in favor of Legacy. Plantation outhit Legacy 33-30, but 6 homeruns including a grand slam by Don Wrona and 3 homeruns by Bill Stoltenberg provided the winning margin for the home team.

Plantation Hit leaders: Jerry Palazollo: 5-5 (3 2B's), Scott Vanblarcom: 4-5 (2B & HR), Rod Wood: 4-5. Bill Magley and Mike Genald also had 3 hits each.

Pear Park was the scene of the top 2 teams battling for 1st place and it lived up to its billing. In a game where no more than 3 runs separated these teams until the 8th when Legacy scored 5 to take a 2 run lead 15-13. Flatwoods tied it up in the bottom half leaving 2 men on. Heading into extra innings, Chuck Sellers made a diving grab to stop Legacy from scoring,then Flatwoods scored a run in bottom half to win 16-15. Scott Sanford led Flatwoods going 5 for 5. Pablo Perez, Pete Carrier and Anthony Speranza each had 3 hits, everyone else each with 2 hits.. Legacy was paced by Frank Stangel, 4 for 5 and Ken Mahoney, Bill Stoltenberg, Jim Russell,Don Wohschleger, Gene " Gaylord Perry" Sciliano 3 each, Gene's spitter struck out 2 with many swings and misses today.

Summerglen scored 21 runs on 31 hits. Included in the 4 hit club were Miguel Berdicia, Rick Wiles, Jay Winn, Eric Rivera and Dave Campbell. Eric Rivera hit 2 Hr's and Miguel Berdicia added another.

Plantation scored 18 runs on 27 hits. Rod Wood had 4 hits, Don Hughes, Ken Geissler and Ralph Correa had 3 hits each. Scott Vanblarcom had 2 Hr's along with 5 rbi's, Ralph Correa hit a grand slam and Rusty Fish hit a 2 run shot.

On a cold, crisp morning with blinding bright sunshine, Eric Rivera

led off the game for SummerGlen with a home run. After that, Legacy

took over, scoring at least 2 runs in every inning to gain a 19-4

victory in 5 innings.

 

For SummerGlen: Eric Rivera (HR), Rich Wiles, Steve McNally and Mark

Schuman each had 2 hits.

For Legacy: Frank Stangel led the way with 4 hits and 4 runs scored.

Ken Mahoney, Rick Aper (3B), Bill Stoltenberg (4 RBI's), Don Wrona (HR

and 5 RBI's) and Jim Russell (2B and HR) all had 3 hits. Don

Wolschleger (2B) and Curt Grimes pitched in with 2 hits each. Jim

Russell also excelled in the field with two diving catches that helped

limit scoring opportunities for the visitors. Another fine game was

turned in by winning pitcher Gene Siciliano and the Legacy defense.


Due to covid related issues Tuesday's game between Plantation and Stonecrest is being cancelled.

as they scored 12 of their 13 runs with 2 outs. Legacy fought back

from as many as 9 runs down, but failed to score in the last 2 innings

for the loss.

HR. Chuck Sellers, John Richman and Anthony Speranza contributed 3

Jack Stuber and John Vain umpired today at Pear Park. Flatwoods and Plantation traded the lead in the early innings with Flatwoods going up 8 runs until Plantation tied it at 15 in the top of 7th inning. Flatwoods scored 5 in the bottom half of 7th to hold onto a 20-15 win shutting Plantation down in 8th. Bo Passen had 5 hits, Pablo Perez, Kevin Hopkins and Gary Huguenot each had 4 hits. Perez and Scott Sanford each hit 2 homers out of the spacious Pear Park. Plantation was led by Bill Magley with 4 hits, Walt James,Bill Richman, Mike Genaw and Craig Woodcock each had 3 hits.

Two powerhouse offenses sputtered on a humid, foggy morning. Both teams failed to score 10 runs or produce 20 hits each as the pitching and defense for both sides proved dominant and kept the game close.

Clean as a Whistle got all the runs they needed in the first 3 innings as 3 home runs yielded 6 runs. Flatwoods didn't score until the 5th inning, but managed to outscore Legacy 4-3 in the last 4 innings, not enough to make up the 6 run deficit.

Hitting leaders for Flatwood: Scott Sanford 3/3 (2 2B's) and Anthony Speranza 3/3.

It was a windy sunny morning at Legacy Field.  In a rare game where no balls left the park, defense and timely hitting were the key.  A close game early, gave way to a Legacy 5 run lead after 7 innings.  Stonecrest battled back with 6 runs in the top of the 8th to take a 1 run lead.  Legacy started the bottom of the 8th with 3 straight hits, and pulled out the win.   Leading hitters for Stonecrest were Anthony Nicometo with 4 hits, Mike Kemp, Darwin Bullock, and Jim Baubonis with 3 hits.  Leading hitters for Legacy with 3 hits were Jim Russell, Ken Mahoney, Don Wohlscheger, Don Wrona, and Jim Cooley.  Gene Siciliano added an inside the park home run.

On a beautiful morning, Summer Glen came out hitting while Legacy struggled.

Summer Glen built a 15-2 lead after 5 and Ĺ innings.  Legacy rallied in the bottom of 6th to make 15-8. Trailing 17-11 going into the bottom of the 8th, Legacy rallied again to make it 17-16 and had the tying and winning runs on base when the final out was recorded.  The leading hitter  for Summer Glen was Miguel Berdecia with 4 hits.
