At home for their final season game, SummerGlen loaded the bases and then rang up 5 runs in the first inning with 6 straight hits.  Mercy Rule.  Feeling Great.

Unfortunately, in the next inning SG needed smelling salts.  It was all Clerbrook for the next 5 frames, as they scored 15 runs on 16 well-placed hits including a triple and a 3-run homer by John Taylor, a 2 run double by Larry Cagle and the second of Lisa Brass' RBIs.

SummerGlen McDonald/ALLSTATE perked up and scored 3 runs in the seventh when Rich Wiles hammered a pitch down the 3rd base line for a 3-run dinger.  SG added a run when Al Lex crossed the plate in the bottom of the eighth.

Both SummerGlen and Clerbrook remained just as they were.  SG in 5th place at

12-16; Clermont at 7- 21 in 8th place.

For Clerbrook: John Taylor was 3/4 with a triple, a HR and 5 RBI. Bill Campbell and Ralph Deemer were 4 for 4.  Larry Cagle was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple. The Ron Moody/Dale Price combo handled the pitching.

For SummerGlen: Rich Wiles had 2 hits and 4 RBI; Jack Bellerose had 2 hits and drove in 1. Byron Ayers, Roger Murray, and Al Lex all had 2 hits.

We had our ups & downs for sure . . . but our opposition made it a great, fun season.  We look forward to playing you all again next season. Stay well!

Water Oak - 18 SummerGlen 9

Water Oak dashed SummerGlen/McDonald ALLSTATE's hopes to be able to finish up the season at .500 today. Three RBI each from Dan Tremain and John Derrig, plus 2 each from John McCall, Frank Frontario, and Chuck Pullyard secured the victory for Water Oak/Kiley&Son.Water Oak got things moving in the top of the first with McCall driving one to deep left center.  But while SG came back with 2 in the second inning courtesy of Roland LaFontaine and Peggy Peterson, but couldn't put together any real rally.  McDonald/ALLSTATE was held to only 2 extra base hits by WO Pitcher Tom Hutchinson.  Unfortunately, SummerGlen's bats - with the exception of one - were suffering from a power shortage, while Water Oaks were surging. Jack Bellerose tried to get things going for SG in their final at-bat, "Jacking" a 2-run homer, but, well, "the fat lady had already finished her song".

SummerGlen/McDonald ALLSTATE's record falls to 12-15; Water Oak/Kiley&Son goes to 17-11.

For SummerGlen: Jack Bellerose went 3 for 4, with a HR and 2RBI.  Dennis Pieper had a 3 for 3 day and an RBI;  Monte Hadden knocked in 2 runs with a base hit.  Debbie Talbott also drove in a run with one of her 2 hits.

For Water Oak: Ed Hitchcock had 2 hits and an RBI; Mitch Siler 3 hits and an RBI Dan Tremaine was 4/4 with 3 runs batted in.  John Derrig smacked 2 triples for 3 runs. Tom Hutchinson walked only one batter in his complete game.
